During the 1950s Port St. Lucie mainly was an uninhabited parcel of land located to the south of White City. Port St. Lucie is home of the New York Mets for spring training, and also home for the Florida State League St. Lucie Mets, and Gulf Coast League Mets rookie-level team. All three of these teams play their home games at First Data Field. Port St. Lucie is also home to the semi-pro soccer team the Treasure Coast Galleons. There are two soccer clubs in the city also, with both competitive and recreational play. These two clubs are the Port Saint Lucie and Make soccer clubs.
